This morning I was whining about going to chorus rehearsal. (I like chorus, I was just tired). Son #2 stopped me cold, pulled me down until I was eye level with him and said quietly, “You wanted to sign up for this. We paid good money for it. You’re part of a team now and they depend on you. You might not be happy about it, but you’re going, missy. You have to see it through till the end.” Never thought my own words would come back to haunt me. Amazing how much you really can get through to your kids! 🙂

Getting my kids to help with the household chores gets a little more difficult every year. Now, I found this great, fun site that just might get my gaming-oriented children involved – willingly! This might also be good for small companies, college (or post-college) roommates, and people who just like to have fun or are competitive in all areas of their life.
Hanging with my boys this morning, talking about how much better Puff, our 17-year-old Maine Coon cat, looks already after his visit to the vet on Monday. Then, they start singing this:
Ah, the awkward age of tweens…wanting independence in the form of cell phones, parties, and Google Hangouts, yet still young enough to cuddle with mom…at his insistence. Just a night to sit and chill for a bit with one of the twins quietly by my side. *happy sigh*
Is there no more sure sign that your children are literally growing UP then when you can no longer see over their heads? This morning, my boys stood in front of me and my line of sight was immediately hindered by brunette buzz cuts. ‘Crap!’ I thought. ‘When did that happen?!’ Just a few weeks ago I was putting my chin on top of their heads with just a little tilt. Now…they’re almost looking me eye to eye. And they’re only 12! Pretty sure they’re going to break the 6′ barrier by the time they get to high school. My babies are definitely growing UP…and now I can’t wait until this happens to their dad. 🙂
